Background
The firm as we know it today is in it's third generation of practitioners which began over 50 years ago with a local Certified Public Accountant named Frank Beede. Frank was a member of one of Antioch's pioneer families. In the mid 1950's John P. Erbez, a Public Accountant began practicing with Frank and became the firm successor upon Mr. Beede's passing in the early 1960's. Mr. Erbez then was a sole practitioner until 1982, when James T. Clay joined the firm.

services such as audits, financial statements, and financial planning.

Our Team
James T. Clay, CPA, Managing Partner
Jim received his Bachelors of Science degree from Armstrong College in Berkeley, Calif. in June of 1980. After graduation he became employed with a local CPA firm in Pinole, CA until July of 1982 when he came to Antioch to practice with John P. Erbez, P.A.
In 1983 he became a partner in the firm shortly after becoming a Certified Public Accountant and subsequently became the sole proprietor in October of 1994.
In addition to his public accounting experience he has been an instructor of Intermediate Accounting and Federal Taxation and other courses. Over the years he has also participated in various community service organizations and projects, and continues to support such in any way he can.
He anxiously looks forward to the future in the world of taxation, accounting, consulting and how these relationships will impact automation.

Vasili joined the firm in 1989 and became a partner in 1991.

Julie is a recent graduate of Hayward State University with a Bachelors of Science degree in accounting. Though just out of college, Julie has experiences with the firm since 1996, where she has worked since high school.
She is currently on course to sit for the CPA exam and is intent in becoming a Certified Public Accountant in the near future.
Julie's skill sets are "a little bit of everything", which include tax preparation, financial accounting, trust accounting and various other computer applications. She is our "go to" person in times of computer application needs.

Shirley brings to our firm her vast experience over the years. She began her career as a staff accountant for local CPA firms and decided in 1974 to start her own tax and bookkeeping practice, which she operated until 1994. In 1994 she closed shop and became a staff accountant once again.
Her talents include income tax preparation and bookkeeping services. Many times we find her making sure that we have coffee made and guarding the back of the office for little visitors. She "surely" is the mother of our firm.
